Interview with Ivan Sokolov from Tokenville
Color4Crypto
It's quite difficult to use alien terminology to try and describe blockchain, and the accompanying visuals don't help much. Unless you buy Bitcoin in 2015, words like "cryptography" and unlimited web network diagrams are enough to instantly turn off newcomers. Crypto space has so far been burdened by its bland and non-textured character.
Ivan Sokolov, creator of Tokenville, strives to change the quality of the right ecosystem, first of all developing the Deus ETH webseries then quickly expanding to all network platforms with several crypto-inspired events in the pipeline. This animation creation is the most interesting representation of current crypto culture and in itself embodies some of the possibilities of blockchain tokenisation. Today, we had the opportunity to chat with Ivan about the origin and mission of the channel.

Crypto Creative: Thank you for joining us Ivan! Tell us a little about yourself and your background.
I spent two years in therapy to understand my background in all its diversity. I never go in a straight line. Art has always been the main motive of my life. I began exploring the world through music and finished playing high school jazz saxophone. Then I spent several years in the art world, with my first exhibition when I was 18 years old called "Emotion in the Si". Not too big and consists of curious installations and video artwork, but all of this forms a large part of my personality. After testing myself in various artistic activities, I found my first call in directing films. For almost 5 years, I directed small commercial films, two of which received the Cannes Media Company and TV Awards.
CC: How do you enter blockchain?
I joined a fintech startup as creative director. That's how my new part was born, and that is the organic button from the direction of the film to product management. Finally, I found myself on blockchain after joining another cryptocurrency startup. My creative background began to call me back. First, it's just a soft whisper, so it's a crisis. It takes a lot of energy to gather my experience into something that will combine innovation, finance, and art, but the winding road leads me to what I do now.
CC: Tell us about your process of making DEus ETH.
I made my first note about the viability of the lottery style shown in October 2017. We then developed a small "trailer", which I gave to some investors in BlockShow Asia in November as a kind of elevator pitch. As a result, I was given the go-ahead to start the project and construction began. We even patented the show mechanism. Our innovation is focused on producing narrative storylines with smart contracts.

Then the collection boom collects our perfect idea of the wonderful collaboration between blockchain and artist. Everyone is crazy about buying NFT. This helps us sell all the heroes we have in just a few hours, but many buyers don't really care about stories, which is very important to us.
Comics have a lot in common with cryptocurrency in their history. There was a comic bubble in the 90s when the collection was very popular, but many people were disappointed with this form of media when it exploded ... We have many things to learn from its history and the comic industry really needs some interference.
I strongly encourage you to see the Deus ETH world. This is not an ad, because the show is over. We made episodes on the trip, because we didn't know who would survive - in each episode the smart contract was randomly selected by several characters who were destined to die. We also often experiment with content formats. I can talk about every episode and background for hours. Although Deus ETH is far from perfect from the point of view of visual arts and storytelling, it summarizes many of our artistic reflections and personal creative perspectives from the blockchain community.
For example, in the 3rd episode, we played audio with me playing as Nao. According to the story, Nao almost died and several creatures were ready to help him. This creature is an investor. It only takes a few minutes to listen to the dialog and you will see that the characters sound very familiar.
All of these episodes were developed in-house and we give 2 episodes per week. I made several piano songs as OST and I was very proud to see the season finished, because sometimes it was quite difficult to progress.
CC: And Tokenville? Why did you decide to produce all the channels themselves? What is the response from the community?
Tokenville is actually not a channel. This is a creative environment for talented people who want to express their ideas through innovation. We got an extraordinary response from the artistic community and we decided to help explore blockchain as a medium. Now we focus on making several program formats that can later be used, fresh-box, by stand-alone artists. And we want Tokenville to be something like Hollywood, but on blockchain. Actually, it's already there, because it's possible to sell pictures of virtual cats for $ 140,000. So more and more people are dreaming of joining some kind of revolution, supporting their work and making their own art. We help them in this effort.

CC: What are your favorite subprojects / shows?
At the moment, I spend most of my time developing Detective Crypto, the program we are working on together with CryptoKitties. Two talented comic artists from our team were involved in this project and I really wanted to see it grow. We still have many things to know, because we are still working on the mechanics of the event, but I am sure we will do something new. We want to focus on comics for some time because I think this content is good for genuine internet media and it's much cheaper to produce. I am currently reading a lot of comic books and I am proud to be involved in developing this "invisible" art form. Comics have a lot in common with cryptocurrency in their history. There were comic bubbles in the 90s when collections were very popular, but many people are disappointed with this form of media when it explodes. Doesn't that sound familiar? We have many things to learn from its history and the comic industry really needs some interference.

CC: Tell us about TV tokens and what your roadmap is for development and use.
TV Tokens are just an interface for all events. Working at Deus ETH, we found that our "viewers" wanted some long-term investment, not just lottery tickets. It's clear that our tokenized character is the worst investment, because they are really dying. We have to make a kind of bridge between all shows. That's why we decided to create business entities that are supported by utility tokens. We believe that, with every performance, capitalization will grow. We also need this token to fund upcoming events. Basically, we only use common cryptocurrency practices in our business model.
As you know, TV tokens are listed on the HitBTC exchange and we hope that they will be listed in some wallets as well.

CC: How can people learn more and be involved?
First of all, take time to understand who we are. We are somehow different. DM me on Twitter or find me on our Discord server if you need guidance. And tell my mother I did something meaningful.

Thank you Ivan for joining us! Be sure to follow the links below for new updates, new events, and new creative content from the Tokenville team. And finally, for Mrs. Ivan, don't worry because Ivan did something meaningful!
